Maligned and misunderstood? - Enfield Poets Literary Festival

1:30 — 2:30pm - Saturday, 18 October 2025

Venue: Forty Hall
Forty Hill, London, EN2 9HA, England,

A fresh look at Mary Bennett and Mr Collins, two characters generally unappreciated and mocked. How justified is this view? Valerie Darville has a B.A. in English from Hertfordshire and an M.A. in Gender and Society from Middlesex. An admirer of Jane Austen, she re-evaluates the characters of Mary Bennett and Mr Collins from “Pride and Prejudice”. This event is part of the Enfield Poets Literary Festival. The Enfield Poets Literary Festival is a celebration of words, voices and creativity in our community, bringing together established and emerging writers for readings, workshops, discussions and more. This year marks the 25th anniversary of Enfield Poets, making the festival an extra special occasion. Free Location - The Great Hall
